PERSONAL TRAINING AT THE SOUTHPORT RACQUET CLUB
Personal trainers are available by the half-hour or
hour to help you design and implement a fitness program to meet
your needs. Our trainers have been handpicked for their individual
area of expertise and for what they bring to the club's members.
Personal training is also available on a semi-private basics with
two members sharing a training session. To choose a trainer, read

Timothy Taylor (Operations Manager)
Tim has been employed at the club for over twenty years.
It is a rare day when you do not find Tim on the fitness floor.
He has been instrumental in developing the SRC as Fairfield
County's premier Fitness Club. He is both an owner and a manager
and spends a large portion of his very long workday training
clients. He is well known in this area for his strength and
conditioning expertise which he honed working as a coach at
the United States Military Academy. Tim developed the SRC
Spinning® program into the area's largest and most comprehensive
Spinning® program. He has brought his knowledge of high-intensity training to the club and has taught his unique style
to the personal training staff at the club.

Kimberly Fox
After ten years of personal training and teaching group fitness, Kimberly took over the position of SRC Group Fitness Director. Inspired by her love for exercise and the members of the club, Kimberly works to keep the group exercise program challenging and fun while incorporating the latest fitness trends into the class schedule. She teaches Body Sculpt, Strength and Power, Spinning® and Bodypump™.

Robin Kane-Nickel
Robin, who has been at SRC since 1995, leads group fitness classes and holds ACE and AFAA certifications as a personal trainer. She teaches Step Aerobics, Body Strike, Body Sculpt, Kickboxing, Spinning® BOSU®, and Final Round. Robin excels at creating customized personal training and wellness programs for a range of clients: from those pursuing healthier lifestyles; weekend enthusiasts training for a new hobby; high school and college athletes seeking to improve performance; to ultra-marathoners preparing for their 100-mile endurance race. A former college gymnast, Robin coached the Staples High School Cheerleading Team for two years and enjoys running, marathons/adventure races, boxing, football and martial arts, recently earning her black belt in karate. Robin and her husband, Mark, completed the Boston Marathon in April 2009 on behalf of the Hole in the Wall Gang, raising enough money to send three children to camp. She is now a part of Team Hole in the Wall as the “Team Trainer” for Fairfield County.

Sylvia Horowitz
Sylvia is no stranger to the halls of SRC - in fact, she's been a club member for eighteen years. In 1996, Sylvia took her commitment to health and fitness to the next level and became a SRC personal trainer. Since then, she has also become the club nutritionist, offering private counseling sessions, planning special club events focused on nutrition and organizing weight loss support groups for members. Sylvia is also a dedicated yogini, and she has studied with some of the most highly respected yoga teachers in the world, including Bikram Choudhury, Baron Baptiste, Jimmy Barkin, Shiva Rea, Mitchel Bleier, David Life and Sharon Gannon. At SRC, Sylvia teaches "Vinyasa Mixed Bag with Sylvia," a sunrise flow class with special emphasis on building core strength, and "Some Like it Hot," a Bikram-style class focuses on proper body alignment to build muscle strength, deepen flexibility and enhance balance. All levels are welcome in both classes. Also be sure to check out "Lifestyles with Sylvia," Sylvia's nutrition column that can be found on the SRC website and in the club's main lobby on the first of every month.

Debra Friedman
Building a balanced body from the inside out is Deb's fundamental training philosophy.
Core training based on Pilates principles as well as traditional strength and interval techniques are fundamental to her training style. In addition to her qualifications as a Personal Trainer, she is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist, assessing, identifying and correcting movement and muscle imbalances that affect the body’s ability to move and develop without joint pain and postural deviations. As alignment is achieved, workout intensity increases and strength and endurance training is integrated allowing clients to meet their fitness goals. In addition to one-on-one and small group training, Deb teaches a variety of group classes, including Pilates Fusion, Impact, Spinning® and Bodypump™.

Carrie A. Saxonmeyer
As a former gymnast and gymnastics coach as well as an accomplished equestrian, Carrie brings her athletic experience and dedication toward fitness and personal training to the SRC. She is interested in working with a diverse clientele, and is known for designing programs that are carefully tailored to motivate her clients to achieve their fitness objectives. When she is not in a training session, Carrie is likely to be found in either a Kickboxing or Spinning® class.

Erik M. Zukauskas
Erik has been involved in various aspects of the SRC since 1999, most recently joining the team of SRC Spinning® instructors. He is currently studying exercise science at Southern Connecticut State University. Originally from Fairfield, Erik lettered in football, basketball, and baseball for Fairfield High School. While his strength training is influenced by his enthusiasm for sports, Erik enjoys inspiring his clients of all ages and interests to achieve their fitness goals.
