Head Pro: Kumail Mehmood
Kumail Mehmood, SRC’s new squash professional, has been playing and teaching squash for the past 23 years. He and his staff of highly qualified coaches are looking forward to developing a strong and efficient program at SRC. 
Kumail, a nationally recognized coach, is a former Pakistan National Champion (1996 and 1997), and national junior champion (U15, U17, U19) who competed and became a world ranked (top 50) player on the Professional Squash Tour. He is a past winner of the Sindh Open, Bournemouth Open and Montpellier Classic.
Presently, Kumail and his team also run the squash programs at Sportsplex Squash in Stamford, St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, and Sportsplex in Bethel. There, they organize squash lessons, clinics, group sessions, round robins, play the pro, inter-club matches, club championships, junior and adult squash tournaments, and seasonal adult and junior camps. In the National High School Team championship, St. Luke’s Boys Varsity Squash Team, under Kumail’s coaching, won its first national title in the school’s history and finished the season by also winning the New England Championships.
A big supporter of “City squash” from the Bronx, “Squash Haven” from New Haven and junior squash in general, F.A.S.S.P has run summer and winter squash camps for the past 8 years. The summer squash camps are run by highly experienced staff and feature current top Professionals players like World champion Thierry Lincou of France, Karim Darwish of Egypt, Hisham Ashour from Egypt as guest coaches.
“My team and I are excited to start our program at the Southport Racquet Club,” states Kumail. “Our goal is to help members enrich and enjoy their squash experience.”

Joey Ramos: Joey has been junior development coach for F.A.S.S.P. squash for the past few years. With 6 years of solid coaching experience under his belt, he has been teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced F.A.S.S.P. junior squash players. For the past 3 years, Joey has been working with St. Luke’s squash teams, running practices that include technical instruction in private and group settings, working on squash skills, such as footwork, fitness and strategy, and traveling with the teams for season matches and coaching them at Nationals and New England championships.
Shaun Cardoza: Shaun has been a squash player for several years. As a young player growing up in Zimbabwe, he was on the Junior Zimbabwe National Team for three years. During that time he often toured in South Africa. After moving to the U.S. Shaun played varsity squash at Westminster School for two years and ranked in the top ten on the Trinity College team in Hartford. Shaun’s coaching experience ranges from working with junior players to teaching advanced squash lessons. He makes it a priority to ensure that his clients are enjoying the game and feel comfortable on the courts. Through his coaching career at SRC, Shaun hopes to promote and strengthen the game of squash in the U.S.
Sahel Anwar: Sahel, a former Denison University captain and #1 squash player, has 10 years of squash coaching experience. He has coached at the Field Club in Greenwich, the Southport Racquet Club, and the Union Club. Before working with F.A.S.S.P./Sportsplex/St. Luke’s squash programs, Sahel ran camps and clinics at Denison University. He has coached juniors from as young as 6 years of age through high school ages. His dedication to coaching, especially in the technical aspects of the game, is extraordinary. Sahel’s great communication skills on and off court make him a special part of our coaching team.
