Our group fitness classes are designed to give participants safe, effective workouts in a fun, friendly environment. The group fitness program is coordinated by Kimberly Fox, who has been with the SRC for over 10 years. Class instructors are handpicked for their experience and enthusiasm and their ability to motivate people. Kimberly is always interested in expanding the staff of highly qualified fitness instructors. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

ABSTRETCH
The name says it all. Thirty minutes of hard-core abs and stretching that will leave you feeling both relaxed and strong.

ASHTANGA IMPROV
A noncompetitive, energetic introduction to the Ashtanga vinyasa yoga style. Stepping out of the traditional sequencing, this class uses accessible poses from 1st and 2nd series Ashtanga. Designed to be progressive and challenging so the student continues building stamina. This is a great sweaty workout with hands on adjustments, alternative approaches, prep and related poses to build balance, strength and flexibility. Room is heated.

BALANCE & POWER
Focusing on core strength and stability, this class was developed 15 years ago by Stephanie Taddei. Each routine is choreographed to the music with exercises using light weights and one's own body for resistance. An effective, non-jarring workout that is appropriate for every BODY.

BODYPUMP
This 60-minute workout challenges your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors, and your choice of weights will inspire you to get the results you came for FAST!

BODY SCULPT
A body conditioning class designed to target individual muscle groups. Bands, tubes, weights, balls and body bars are used to increase the effectiveness and intensity of the workout. Body sculpting is done in 30-minute and hour-long classes.

BODY STRIKE
This is a high-intensity kickboxing class inspired by boxing and martial arts combined with a series of lower-body conditioning moves. The class finishes with a core strength and balance work session on the mat. You will leave feeling empowered. It’s a total body workout, worth every drop of sweat!

CIRCLE SCULPT
Tone and strengthen your body with the fitness ring. The fitness ring allows you to target major muscle groups and achieve deep core training with smooth and consistent muscle toning resistance.

DANCE EXPLOSION
Positive energy and fun choreography make this aerobic dance class a calorie-burning blast. Participants can pick up these steps after 2-3 classes. All levels (even beginners) are welcome!

IMPACT
Here is the ultimate in boxing conditioning: Combine the strength and intensity of working a heavy bag with the physical conditioning of a cardio workout. Punch, kick and perform boxing combinations for a nonstop, super-charged hour. Challenge your muscles, condition your body and burn off some steam!

KICKBOXING
Step into the “ring” for a high-energy class that infuses boxing techniques with self-defense movements for a hardcore, nonstop hour of punches and kicks. Leave feeling invigorated. You won’t know what “hit” you.

LATIN RHYTHMS
A cardio dance class using influences from Jazz, Modern, Flamenco, Tango and African. An absolute blast!

PEDAL & PUMP
This ia an interval-based class with cardio intervals on the bike and weight-training intervals on the floor.

PILATES FUSION
A fusion of traditional strength moves combined with challenging Pilates-inspired core/balance techniques gives this class a unique flair. Take everything you love about Pilates: longer, leaner muscles, improved flexibility and fluid movement and create a more powerful core. Upper- and lower-body work is incorporated to build a balanced body from the inside out!

PILATES MAT
This class brings balance between muscular structure (strength and weakness) and principles of understanding (breathing, relaxation, concentration and control). Pilates strengthens smaller muscle groups to support the surrounding larger muscle movement.

6 WEEKS TO A 6 PACK
Take 30 minutes a week for the next 6 weeks and get the 6 pack you’ve always wanted. This class focuses on functional core and lower-body training, using everything from stability balls to the BOSU® trainer. Get in and get out!

SLOW FLOW YOGA
This class offers a breath-centered, soothing-but-challenging, body-and-soul Vinyasa Yoga. Expect constant but slow, deliberate motion, with continuous attention to the breath and to the safety and comfort of the body. Wise and sound sequencing of postures offers maximum benefit and effect. Develop stability, stamina, resilience and fortitude through the practice of “holding” postures (staying in the pose!).

SOME LIKE IT HOT
This Bikram-style class focuses on proper body alignment to build muscle strength, deepen flexibility and enhance balance. The Monday practice includes standing postures 2 times each. Wednesday is devoted to floor work. Friday the whole sequence comes together, 26 postures, 1 time each. Various forms of yogic breathing are explored. All levels are welcome. The room is heated for class.

SPINNING®
This indoor cycling class offers a comprehensive training program that works the entire body, inside and out. Each spinner can personally decide the proper level of difficulty for any part of the workout.

STEP MOVES
Learn the basic moves and combinations to Robin’s Step routine. Fun choreography and motivating music make this challenge a blast for both the body and mind.

STRAIGHT UP STRENGTH
This is an awesome class designed to strengthen and define every muscle in your body. Using light and heavy weights, you will pyramid up and down to get the maximum contraction from each muscle group.

STRENGTH & POWER
This is a strength training class for the upper and lower body, utilizing the Step and weights. The Step will be used in various ways to challenge the legs, the upper body as well as the core.

SUNSET YOGA
Join Terri for an hour of exercise, deep stretching and relaxation. Warm up the body with Sun Salutations, then move into twisting (cleansing) and balancing postures followed by full-body stretching. The class will conclude with guided relaxation and full relaxation (savasana). You will leave feeling recharged, calm, and ready for a light dinner and a great night’s sleep! This class is open to all levels.

SUPERSCULPT
Get ready to change your body with an interval class not to be missed. Using a combination of resistance training and cardio intervals, this class will bring your fitness to a whole new level!

VINYASA MIXED BAG WITH SYLVIA
Awaken the body and mind with a surprise sunrise flow class focusing on proper body alignment, the link of breath to movement, and increased muscle awareness powered by Sun Salutations. Although all levels are welcome (modifications are given), this is an intermediate class with special emphasis on building core strength. The room is heated for class.

VINYASA YOGA
Vinyasa, meaning “breath-synchronized movement,” is a flowing style of yoga that uses Sun Salutations with other postures to create different sequences throughout the class. By linking the breath with each movement, students will build mental focus along with physical strength, balance and flexibility. It also cleanses and purifies the body through compression, decompression, twisting and balancing postures to benefit the body, mind and spirit. The teacher offers various modifications of postures during class to make it accessible to mixed levels of students.

YOGA ON SUNDAYS WITH LAURA
This class focuses on the breath, meditation, and physical endurance through its sequence of stretching, bending and balancing postures. While this practice will increase your awareness of total body alignment, including the spinal column, head and joints, it will also stimulate the circulatory system and other organs. All levels are welcome to this perfect weekend wind down.

ZUMBA
Spice up your workout with this dance-fitness program based on international rhythms and Latin inspirations. The cardio-based dance movements are easy-to-follow steps that include body sculpting to achieve maximum calorie-burning and total body toning—all while having fun, and no dance experience is necessary!


 

GROUP FITNESS POLICIES
Please abide by the following policies. The cooperation of all members will result in a safe, effective and enjoyable workout for everyone.

  1. The warm-up is very important to avoid injury. For safety reasons, you may enter a class only at the discretion of the instructor, if you are more than 10 minutes late.
  2. Be considerate of other members’ exercise space. Do not crowd a member who has arrived in class before you.
  3. Some classes require that you reserve a spot before class begins. Please check the front desk for further information.
  4. Please sign in at the front desk for all group fitness classes prior to class.
  5. Please refrain from wearing all fragrances to any classes.
  6. Please return towels and locker keys to the front desk before you leave the club.
  7. Please return all equipment (weights, bands and bars) to storage spaces.
  8. Please do not wear street shoes in the group fitness studios.
